Robert Pierce Colligan was one of eight children born to James H. & Ailda "Ida" (Montosi) Colligan on July 21, 1926 in Quincy, Massachusetts.

He enlisted for service on April 8, 1944 and served as a fireman first class in the U.S. Naval Reserve. Though he never received a medal, his service was enough for his country.

He married Phyllis C. Calkin.  Phyllis was the youngest child of James C & Gertrude (Prouty) Calkin of Scituate, Massachusetts. They lived on Springfield Avenue in Marshfield. They had three children - two sons and three daughters.

On March 5, 1959, she filed an application for a military headstone in Marshfield. She outlived him several years, passing away in 2011.  A flat granite marker serves as recognition for his devotion and services to his country.
