Located at the end of Winslow Cemetery Road on six acres of land lies the Old Winslow Burying Ground in the residential area which abuts the Marshfield Country Club to the North. This is one of the oldest cemeteries in Marshfield, on which several Pilgrims are known to be buried including Daniel Webster. The grave markers here cover a period of four centuries of America’s past. I hope to personally get to know each of these residents and tell their story, how they came to be a part of Marshfield’s history and let them know that someone in today’s society still cares and thinks about them. I will focus on the stones that seem to be unattended to by family members – perhaps because their own family has died off or maybe they are not into family history and simply do not know they exist yet. I hope you enjoy these posts!
